This 2005 issue of the "The Database on Food Situation in Bangladesh" published by FPMU is the fifth in the series. This publication contain updated information relating to food security upto fiscal 2005. This database provides important statistics on food situation some of which are quarterly updated through the analytical publication of FPMU titled "Bangladesh Food Situation Report" published in November, January, April and August containing updates upto the previous months. This publication also contain a small analytical section on recent changes in the food sector. I hope this document will be useful to all concerned, the policy makers, the researchers and government officials as a whole.

The officers of FPMU who have worked hard in compiling and editing this database deserve appreciation. Relevant offices of the government have provided updated information and their co-operation is highly appreciated. Information cited from other secondary sources are also acknowledged with thanks.
